What happened to 9anime?

9anime launched in 2016, became AniWave in August 2023, and was shut down on 27 August 2024 after anti-piracy action. Read the full story in our 9anime guide.

What are the best 9anime alternatives?

Crunchyroll, Netflix and Disney+/Hulu are the best paid options. Tubi, Pluto TV, RetroCrush and official YouTube channels like Muse Asia and Ani-One are free and legal. See all 12 best 9anime alternatives.

Is 9anime safe?

Clone sites using the 9anime name are not safe — many contain malware, pop-ups and fake download buttons. Our site has no downloads or pop-ups. Learn more in Is 9anime Safe?
